How To Beat Blade Phantom in The First Berserker: Khazan
Phase 1
The Blade Phantom emerges as a ghostly presence in a castle filled with a crimson liquid, testing your stamina management and combat aggression. This multi-phase boss begins with a barrage of attacks:
- A six-hit combo featuring four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches and a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo with flashing punches, culminating in a grab that requires a dodge.
In addition to these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and spawning red spikes. If it opts for a spear, anticipate a quick throw followed by a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, expect a swift six-hit combo. The boss may also vanish and dash around the battlefield before striking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks allows you to parry or dodge effectively, creating windows for your counterattacks. Deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina to unleash a Brutal Attack, repeating this strategy until its health is halved, triggering Phase 2.
Phase 2
Phase 2 kicks off with four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Evade the spear's impact zone and brace for a leaping swipe. The Blade Phantom then unleashes three greatsword slashes and a hammer smash.
While retaining many of its previous moves, the boss now incorporates new claw attacks, a spear thrust with a follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when wielding the greatsword, be wary of multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this, restoring your stamina and opening the boss up for further damage.
Exploit the Blade Phantom's stamina depletion to maximize your Brutal Attack's impact, timing it just before the window closes. This strategy will lead you to victory, earning you 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
