Dataminer Finds Hara-Kiri Animations in Mortal Kombat 1, May Become Quitalities

Author : Dylan Apr 15,2025

A dedicated Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered what appears to be strong evidence suggesting the introduction of Hara-Kiri Fatalities in the game, potentially in the form of Quitalities. Redditor InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing what look like Hara-Kiri Fatalities, a feature first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception back in 2004, where the losing player performs a self-Fatality.

The discovery is particularly intriguing as InfiniteNightZ found Hara-Kiri animations for recently released DLC characters such as Ghostface, hinting that these could be incorporated into Mortal Kombat 1 in an upcoming update. "After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible," InfiniteNightZ commented.

Furthermore, InfiniteNightZ suggested that these Hara-Kiri animations might be introduced as Quitalities, a type of quick-fire finisher that activates when a player quits a multiplayer match, as evidenced by their listing in the game's code. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," InfiniteNightZ noted optimistically.

Following InfiniteNightZ's discovery, another high-profile Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer, Interloko, revealed additional Hara-Kiri animations:

Thanks @MatthewDim40523 for tag me
Here are another 2 missing from the video, so looks like only Omniman and Conan doesn't have one.

I didn't try to trigger it in the game because I'm bussy finishing some stuff of the demo of my own game https://t.co/TqBKyauY0G pic.twitter.com/hL4QzLRXwf

While these findings are exciting, it's important to note that neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. Games, the game's publisher, has officially announced the addition of Quitalities to Mortal Kombat 1.

The game recently saw a resurgence with the addition of a secret fight featuring Floyd, the pink ninja, which sparked community efforts to uncover his unlock conditions. Additionally, fans are eagerly anticipating the T-1000 guest character and potential future DLC, although NetherRealm has yet to confirm any further details.
