How to Cultivate Friendship with the Valley's Dwarves

Author : Madison Jan 24,2025

This guide delves into the enigmatic Dwarf of Stardew Valley, offering insights into befriending this unique character. Unlike other villagers, forging a friendship with the Dwarf requires deciphering a new language and understanding his unique gift preferences.

Dwarf in Stardew Valley

Locating the Dwarf:

Hidden within the mines, beyond a boulder on the first floor (easily destroyed with a copper pickaxe or bomb), you'll find the Dwarf's secluded shop.

Unlocking Dwarvish:

Communication is key. Initially, the Dwarf is incomprehensible. To bridge this language barrier, collect all four Dwarf Scrolls, donate them to the museum, and receive the Dwarvish Translation guide as a reward from Gunther. Return to the mines; now, you can finally converse with the Dwarf!

Gift Giving:

Friendship blossoms through thoughtful gifts. The Dwarf accepts two gifts weekly. His birthday (Summer 22nd) doubles the friendship points earned from gifts.

  • Lemon Stone
  • Omni Geode
  • Lava Eel
  • All universally loved gifts

Liked Gifts (+45 Friendship Points):

  • All universally liked gifts
  • All Artifacts
  • Cave Carrot
  • Quartz

Disliked & Hated Gifts (Friendship Point Deduction):

Avoid giving the Dwarf mushrooms, foraged items, and universally hated gifts (excluding Artifacts).
