Call of Duty: Warzone Haunted by Persistent Lobby Crashes

Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still in development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.

The Problem: Players reported widespread game freezes and crashes while loading into matches, leading to frustration and unwarranted penalties, including Skill Rating (SR) deductions and temporary match bans. This issue, first reported on January 6th, became a significant concern for the community.

Developer Response: Raven Software acknowledged the problem and, on January 9th, announced a temporary measure to alleviate the impact. Skill Rating penalties and timeouts are now suspended for players disconnecting before joining a Ranked match. This addresses player complaints about unfair penalties caused by the unavoidable glitch. Penalties for mid-match disconnections remain in effect.

Ongoing Issues: Although the penalty issue is temporarily resolved, the underlying loading screen crash bug persists. This follows other recent challenges for Warzone, including a temporary matchmaking outage in late December 2024 and ongoing concerns about cheating and other bugs. Even a major update in early January 2025 didn't fully resolve these issues. The development team is actively working on a complete fix.

In short: Warzone's loading screen crashes are causing problems, but the developers have temporarily mitigated the unfair penalty aspect. A permanent solution is still awaited.
