Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receives two classic game modes and a beloved map this week, hot on the heels of its launch and a recent update addressing player-reported bugs.
Infection and Nuketown Arrive This Week
Treyarch, the developer behind Black Ops 6, announced via Twitter (now X) the imminent arrival of the popular "Infected" mode and the iconic Nuketown map. Infected, a staple in the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against AI-controlled zombies, launching tomorrow. Nuketown, a map first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and inspired by 1950s American nuclear test sites, will debut on November 1st. Activision had previously confirmed plans for regular post-launch content additions, and this release is the first of many. Black Ops 6, released October 25th, initially included 11 standard multiplayer modes, four alternative modes without Scorestreaks, and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Post-Launch Issues
A recent update addressed several multiplayer and Zombies mode issues. Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight received XP and weapon XP rate increases. Activision stated that they are continuously monitoring XP rates across all modes. Here are some of the resolved issues:
- Global: Resolved loadout highlighting, Bailey's Operator menu animation, and the "Mute Licensed Music" setting functionality.
- Maps: Fixed exploits allowing players to leave the intended play area on Babylon, Lowtown, and Red Card maps. Red Card also received stability improvements. General in-game interaction stability was also addressed.
- Multiplayer: Addressed matchmaking issues preventing quick player replacements, fixed Private Match forfeits with zero players on a team, and resolved the continuous Dreadnought missile sound effect.
Unresolved issues, such as player death upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy, are slated for future patches. Despite these post-launch issues, Black Ops 6 is considered by many to be one of the best recent Call of Duty titles, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
