Sonic BombThe Quematrice, a giant chicken-like beast reminiscent of a Cockatrice, prefers fiery breath to petrification—a welcome change for hunters. Its mid-size makes it vulnerable to most weapons, but its area-of-effect attacks might favor ranged weapons for less experienced hunters.
While its tail swipes and strikes pack a punch, the most potent attack is its tail slam. This involves a dramatic upward arc before a powerful downward strike. Sidestepping or blocking effectively negates this attack. However, its fire attacks are the real threat, causing direct damage, burning effects (reducing health), and even igniting the ground.
These fire attacks are less telegraphed. One involves a slight head rear, a roar, and a fiery blast from its tail. Another is a full sweep following a head and tail lift, engulfing its surroundings in flames. This fire attack can also be part of a charging attack, where it runs towards you before a last-second fiery turn. Ranged hunters should back away to avoid damage during this maneuver.
How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Quematrice requires the right tools: a Shock Trap, a Pitfall Trap, and at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap suffices, a backup is crucial in case of escape or interference.
Once the Quematrice is significantly weakened (limping, or the skull icon on the mini-map disappears), it's time to set a trap. Ideally, wait until it moves to a new area after limping to simplify the process. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and deploy two Tranq Bombs for a successful capture.
