High-end prebuilt PCs often come with a hefty price tag, but savvy shoppers can still snag significant savings if they catch the right deal. Currently, Dell is offering a fantastic discount on the Alienware Aurora R16 equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing the price down to just $2,899.99 after a $1,000 instant discount. This marks the first time in months that an RTX 4090 gaming PC has been available for under $3,000. With RTX 4090 graphics cards increasing in price and standalone units costing at least $2,000 from reputable sellers, building your own PC might not be as cost-effective as you might think. Plus, opting for a prebuilt PC means you benefit from a comprehensive warranty.

Alienware Aurora R16 i9-14900KF RTX 4090 Gaming PC
Originally priced at $3,699.99, now save 22% and get it for $2,899.99 at Alienware. This powerful gaming PC features an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF stands out as the top Intel gaming CPU available today and excels in productivity tasks. Known for running hot, this CPU is effectively cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply, ensuring stable performance.
The RTX 4090 is unrivaled as the most powerful GPU on the market. In his review, Chris Coke notes, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can enjoy any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high framerates even for the most demanding new releases like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. Additionally, the RTX 4090 is the preferred choice for AI applications due to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.
A Note on RTX 5000 Series GPUs
NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 series GPUs are set to launch at the end of January. The RTX 5090 promises greater power, but at a significantly higher cost, with the Founder's Edition priced at $2,000. Availability may be limited at launch. The RTX 5080 will be priced at $999, but again, availability could be an issue. We will soon benchmark this card, but it will come with less VRAM than the 4090 (16GB vs 24GB), and it's unlikely to dethrone the 4090 as the dominant GPU.
A Note on Alienware's Newest "R16" Desktop Chassis
The R16 is Alienware's 2024 desktop PC design, offering a 40% reduction in volume compared to previous models. It features an efficient airflow pattern, drawing air in through side intake vents over the GPU and a 120mm front fan, and expelling it through a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to the top fans. While some configurations may not include liquid cooling, we recommend opting for it, as Alienware's liquid cooling solution outperforms their stock air cooling and justifies the additional cost. Note that Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in appearance and design.
