Fans of the iconic '90s film Clueless have reason to celebrate as Alicia Silverstone is set to don Cher Horowitz's legendary yellow and plaid outfit once again in a new sequel series for Peacock. The project is still in its early stages of development, and while plot details are closely guarded, it's confirmed that this series will continue the narrative from the beloved 1995 movie.
This upcoming series marks a fresh take, distinct from Peacock's previously announced Clueless spin-off in 2020. The creative powerhouse behind this new endeavor includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, alongside writer Jordan Weiss. The trio will not only pen the series but also serve as executive producers, joined by Amy Heckerling, the visionary writer-director of the original film, and Robert Lawrence, its producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to bring this project to life.
This isn't the first time Clueless has ventured onto the small screen. Following the film's success, a TV adaptation ran on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent appearance as Cher in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten indicates her eagerness to revisit the character. It's no surprise, given the enduring appeal of Cher Horowitz and the world of Clueless.
