Hunting AI animals in Ecos La Brea: Mastering Stealth and Tracking

While AI animals in Ecos La Brea might seem easier targets than player-controlled ones, they present unique challenges. Successfully hunting them requires a mastery of stealth and careful tracking. This guide provides essential tips for a successful hunt.

The key to tracking AI is stealth. Use your scent button to detect nearby animals, indicated by animal icons. A meter appears when crouching, showing how close you are to spooking the animal. Movement significantly impacts this meter.

Movement Speed and Direction:

  • Sprinting: Instantly fills the meter.
  • Running: Rapidly fills the meter.
  • Trotting: Fills the meter at a moderate pace.
  • Walking: The slowest, ideal for approaching the animal.

Approach from upwind to minimize the chance of detection. Downwind approaches will quickly spook the AI. Crosswind is a compromise.

The AI's Behavior:

A question mark occasionally appears above the animal icon. If you move while the question mark is visible, the spook meter fills faster. Remain still until it disappears.

Catching Your Prey:

The spook meter will likely fill before you reach the AI. Be ready to sprint once it runs. AI animals are fast, but sprinting should allow you to catch up.

Their erratic movements require practice. Open fields with minimal obstacles improve your chances. Get very close to bite and secure your prey. Drop and eat your kill, then repeat the process until satisfied.
